A Stargate Universe Fan Site
Finally, a decent Stargate Universe trailer!
Wow. I’m not sure what to think, but I liked the frantic feel of this teaser clip! I’m not gonna pretend though. They could have done a much better job with this. I hope they release another trailer soon, because I’d like to actually be able to see the characters…
Here it is, the much too dark trailer.
Stargate Universe premiere date hinted at
In a recent press release from MGM, SCI FI Channel has said that it expects Stargate Universe to premiere in October 2009. Earlier it was expected that SGU would be a summer show, but this new information puts that premiere off by several months’ time.
As an avid Stargate fan, I was disappointed to read this, because I already miss Stargate Atlantis. I guess I have no choice but to persevere and wait impatiently for more news. :-)
Stargate Universe Cast News – Finally, Females
MGM has finally posted a press release listing female cast members for the upcoming Stargate Universe television show. In their press notice, “LOU DIAMOND PHILLIPS, MING-NA, ELYSE LEVESQUE AND ALAINA HUFFMAN CAST IN SCI FI’S ‘SGU: STARGATE UNIVERSE’,” MGM announces the casting of the following roles.
- Colonel Telford (Lou Diamond Phillips)
- Chloe Armstrong (Elyse Levesque)
- MSGT. Tamara Johansen (Alaina Huffman)
- Camile Wray (Ming-Na)
Here are a few clips from the announcement itself: … "Stargate Universe Cast News – Finally, Females" continues >

The Stargate Universe teaser video that’s up on scifi.com isn’t much to look at, but it still excites me that they’ve put something up. :-)

Stargate Universe Cast Update
There’s been a lot put out recently about the upcoming cast of Stargate Universe. I’m most interested in the character information, so I’ll quote it here, with a link to more information for those of you who like to know something about the actors taking on the character roles! … "Stargate Universe Cast Update" continues >
A Ship Named Destiny
I was out reading Joseph Mallozzi’s blog today and came across several references to Stargate Universe. He says…
We walked through Stage 4, the Destiny standing set, and it’s looking mighty impressive. And big! Over on Stage 5, it was a bittersweet stroll through what was once the SGC control room and briefing room.
Brad and Rob put out the revised Air two part opener. Paul has apparently finished his outline. I’m motoring along, hitting the sixteen page mark of the first part of the mid-season two-parter. I’ll be writing from home tomorrow as Brad and Rob are in meetings all day tomorrow as prep begins on Air I, II and III.
Of course, I take this to mean Destiny is the name of the ship the Stargate Universe characters are going to be trapped on, and I also take it to mean that the series opener is going to be a three-parter. I would assume the first two parts will be shown as a single 2-hour premier and the third part will be the first of the regular weekly installments. I could be wrong, but I doubt it since that’s the usual way of things on the Scifi Channel.
Casting news for lead role in Stargate Universe
MGM has just posted a news release naming Robert Carlyle as the actor who’ll be taking on the lead role of Dr. David Rush in Stargate Universe. (ROBERT CARLYLE TO STAR IN SCI FI’S NEW ORIGINAL SERIES ‘STARGATE UNIVERSE’)
We couldn’t be more excited to set Robert Carlyle for Stargate Universe. He brings a depth, intelligence, and complexity to his roles, which will fit perfectly with the fresh, new reinvention of this franchise,” said Mark Stern, Executive Vice President, Original Programming for SCI FI & Co-Head Original Content, Universal Cable Productions.
The press release also gives some limited information about the role Carlyle will fill (Dr. David Rush). Emphasis mine. :-)
SGU follows a band of soldiers, scientists and civilians, who must fend for themselves as they are forced through a Stargate when their hidden base comes under attack. The desperate survivors emerge aboard an ancient ship missing in the far reaches of space. As they fight to survive, Dr. Rush (Carlyle) works to unlock the mysteries of the ship and return the group home, but evidence of his ulterior motives soon arises.
And there might be even more news soon, since “additional casting is currently underway.”
Have you watched Robert Carlyle in any other television or movie roles? What do you think about him as the lead on Stargate Universe? Let me know in the comments.
Stargate Universe Is the Next Stargate Series
MGM released a press release about the newest addition to the Stargate universe, and it’s aptly titled Stargate Universe. Set to premiere sometime in 2009 in the summer, the show will be produced by Stargate SG-1 and Stargate Atlantis co-creators Brad Wright and Robert C. Cooper.
